Sports Prize Giving 2008

Sports prize giving was held on Friday the 7th November with guest speaker Mr Don Tricker who was the formal sucessful Black Sox coach and now works for SPARC. Trinity House was well represented on stage
with many awards picked up and fine captain speeches form Dan Maathius, 1st XI cricket, and Sam Dean, 1st XI football.

Ope and Mona to England


Ope Peleseuma and Mona Sio are off to England in term 4 on a rugby and cultural exchange. I am sure that they will have a great time and we look forward to hearing about there experiences on there return.

Inter-house Rugby




The inter-house rugby competition has been running in the later half of this term. A 10 a-side game held over lunchtime in a round robin format. The Junior House team preformed very well being unbeaten but unfortunately the Senior House team could not reach the same standard of play.

House Debating















House debating was a successful competition for Trinity House with Trinity reaching the senior and junior finals. Michael O'Flaherty and Simon Murrow were narrowly pushed into second place in the senior final while James Gilchrist and Robert Whitefield won the junior house final with Robert being named the best overall speaker.

The 'Bird' is unveiled


Trinity House have released their mascot. Big Bird has been selected due to his splendid colour as well as his ability to scare small children. The job will be now to protect him from the other houses. Thank you to Joseph Checuti for donating the fine specimen.

House Music









Trinity House finished the term in fine style with a win in the house song contest. Time put into practice was evident with a strong level of singing backed up with conducting by Michael O'Flaherty and David Archibald showing unmatched skills on the piano.
A excellent rendition of Yellow Brick Road by Elton John was enjoyed by the whole school with David's amazing skills on display again, backed up with Phillip Salevao on the skins, Callum Lawson and Kurt Tipler on guitar and vocals by Michael O'Flaherty and Jamie Murtha.

Academic Dominance


Trinity House has again confirmed themselves as the academic house at Silverstream. They totally dominated weekly notes in term 2 having the best house average each week making them clear winners for the term and gaining 8 valuable house points. In other academic matters Cameron Vannisselroy was rewarded for his strong academic results. Well done Cameron!

Higgins makes 50 games











Jordan Higgins joined an exclusive group by playing his 50th game for the 1st XI. A lot of time and effort goes into representing your college this many times, well done Jordan!

Interhouse Football Champions

Trinity comfortably won house football with a strong junior team taking first place just outdoing thier senior counterparts who narrowly lost the final to end up second place.
Junior team was led by Liam Higgins and starred Lewis Knibbs, Liam Sarich and Brandon Reddin. Senior team was captained by Higgins Senior, Jordan and other players were Dan Maathius, Peter Corrigan, Anthony Meiklejohn, and Rory McGrath.

House Haka Competition



Trinity House learn't a valuable lesson at Haka competition and that was not to leave things to the last moment! Spirited school haka's by the other houses left Trinity in fourth place, better luck next year.

Year 9 students spent two days in Masterton enjoying the outdoors and finding their feet amongst new friends. Activities included caving, kayaking, rafting and swinging through the trees on the high and low ropes course.

Swimming Sports




The swimming sports ended with Trinity coming a credible second after showing great house spirit over the Junior and Senior events. Trinity House participation was the highest out of all houses and the we lost out on the top spot due to the competition rounds.
Excellent individual performances were by Haize Alatipi, Tim Norris, Izaac Taggart and Michael O'Flaherty was a fine cut of a man in his speedos.

The athletic sports was a close competition finally ending up with three house separated by four points. Excellent individual performances were by Tim Scalan (Yr 9), Daniel Jordon (Yr 9), Tiatoa Teariki (Yr 10), Sam Dean (Yr 11), Phillip Salevao (Yr 11), Alaster Perkinson (Yr 11), Rene Van Diggele (Yr 12), Anthony McKee (Yr 12), Ernest Ullrich (Yr 13) and Adam Hunt (Yr 13).

Excellent participation and support was shown throughout!
